Dues Letter 2026
This letter is to help explain the accompanying invoice for the 2026 annual dues at Mt. Pleasant Golf
Club.
2025 was a successful year for the club. The club yet again had record revenues, which came with
increased expenses. The weather was terrific all year, helping greens fees and cart income exceed
budgeted projections. Capital improvements were able to be made including replacing the front parking
lot stairs, installing stairs from the back lot, and improving drainage and repairing damage from prior
storms around the awning.
The club was also able to invest in new equipment for the golf course, including a sprayer and (used)
fairway mower, in addition to improvements around the third green which will provide benefits for many
years. The club has approved a new roller and sod cutter for equipment in 2026.
In fiscal year 2026, we will also be replacing the club’s server and all the club’s point of sale systems. All
equipment has aged significantly past its useful life and regular updates to the software are no longer
available on these legacy systems. We will also be replacing the entire fleet of golf carts. As discussed at
last year’s annual meeting the cost for new carts is significantly more than what we paid in the past
(more than 2x the price).
After meeting with the Finance Review Committee and the Board of Directors, a decision was made to
utilize funds in the Board restricted account to pay for the server/POS upgrade (approx. $45,000) and to
“buy down” the lease on the carts by $100,000 to make the monthly payments more affordable. Still,
with all the new equipment and the new carts, plus an increase to the rate on our mortgage, our debt
service requirement for all leases, equipment, carts and mortgage is expected to be approximately
$40,000 more than 2025. This is on top of increases in costs in nearly all other areas.
As a result, the FRC and Board has decided to increase dues for all membership categories by 7%. Social
dues will also increase from $225/year to $300/year. There will be no increase to the F&B cards this year.
Come spring, there will likely be other, minimal increases at the bar, with carts, and with greens fees to
help balance the budget. Being proactive with dues increases will help us maintain a strong reserve
account even after the $145,000 in spend as outlined above.
With dues being invoiced in November of 2025, the Board will be following the payment schedule that is
outlined in the by-laws with no amendments. Dues are payable in 1/3 installments, with the first
payment due by January 15th, 2026, second payment due by March 1st, 2026 and final payment due by
April 15th, 2026. A late fee of $100 will be assessed for any missed payment. Payments being collected
in this fashion greatly help the club’s cash flow in the winter months. Payments being made by credit
card are allowed at no additional cost.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming annual meeting where we will share the full
results of the 2025 fiscal year.
Sincerely,
Sean Moriarty, Treasurer

Sincerely,
